Sprint & Vespa "Green on the Go Tour" Takes a Bite Out of the Big Apple

WHAT:            Sprint & Vespa USA’s “Green on the Go” Tour

DETAILS:
By setting a goal to reduce carbon emissions by 30 percent by 2030, designating scooter-only parking spots and encouraging the use of sustainable forms of transportation, New Yorkers are serious about “going green.” For the fourth summer in a row, New York City’s Summer Streets program will temporarily close Park Avenue (and connecting streets from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park) to motor vehicles, providing more space for healthy recreation, allowing New Yorkers to play, walk, bike, breathe and use ‘greener’ forms of transportation.

This summer, Sprint Nextel and Vespa USA joined forces to launch “Green on the Go,” a mobile green awareness tour highlighting Sprint’s phone recycling efforts as part of their Buyback program and Vespa USA’s Vespanomics program. New York City is the sixth and final stop on the tour.
 
New York City Sprint Vespa “Green on the Go” Tour details:
At the event, consumers can:
o        Trade in their old or unused phones to be recycled to see whether they can earn an instant credit toward the purchase of a new device or donate their phone through Project Connect.
o        Demo Sprint’s first eco-friendly Android™ powered device – the Samsung Replenish made partially from recycled materials and recyclable packaging.
o        Participate in a Vespa photo experience.
o        Learn more about the benefits of using a Vespa as a fun alternative mode of transportation - as part of Vespa’s Vespanomics program, and how gasoline consumption could be reduced by 3.9 billion gallons per year (resulting in a savings of $21 billion) by the year 2020, if just a fraction of licensed drivers in the U.S. converted a small percentage of their miles traveled to a Vespa;
o        Enter for a chance to win a Vespa LX 50 motor scooter and a Samsung Replenish with three months of free Sprint wireless service.
The “Green on the Go” Tour is part of a larger national promotion between Vespa and Sprint, where between June 26 and August 20, wireless users who return their eligible old or unused cell phones to Sprint and receive up to $250 in instant credit towards the purchase of a new wireless device and can enter to win one of six Vespa LX 50 scooters, a new Samsung Replenish and 3 months free Sprint wireless service.


Winners from the national contest and the Sprint and Vespa “Green on the Go” Tour will be announced at the conclusion of the promotion.
